ABOUT RACHEL

R-55_edited.png

I came to this work by, what some may call, the long way — through decades of my own healing, doubt, and finding my way back.

My own healing path began early with a loss I didn’t have words for as a child. My father disappeared from my life at seven, and it would be fourteen years before I saw him again. What I carried in between wasn’t something I could name as grief, or name at all. But it was the undercurrent beneath my worldview. With time and natural curiosity, I began to feel that the spiritual framework I was handed didn’t fit the truth I sensed inside me. So I chose for myself with a conviction not yet tested. Choosing my own path cost me. It fractured things with my family in ways that took years to metabolize. That pattern followed me into adulthood. Every time I chose something that felt genuinely mine — a field of study no one understood, a calling that didn’t look like security — I met the weight of disappointment, and my own doubt wasn’t far behind. I still know that tension. The pull between what you sense is true for you and what feels safe enough to stand behind. I do this work in part because I know what it costs to ignore that pull, and what becomes possible when you finally stop.

My professional life has been rooted in community economies — food systems, farming, and small businesses. Its current form is bookkeeping and these healing practices, which took shape beginning around 2020. I say this not to impress but to give you a sense of who I am in full. I am someone who has always moved between the practical and the profound, finding them less separate than they are encouraged to be. I see it all as divine.

My path to this work was also shaped by nearly two decades of mentorships with healers and indigenous elders — including years of learning through presence with the Kogui, Wiwa, Arhuaco and Kankuamo peoples of Colombia. Those teachings are woven into how I hold space, though their depth deserves more than a paragraph.

(A longer reflection on that chapter lives in the blog.)

I grew up in North Carolina, moving to Durango, Colorado on my own in late 2012. That’s where my spiritual and professional work deepened. After eleven years, it was time to move back closer to family and the Appalachian mountains. My home with my husband and two dogs is in Swannanoa, just east of Asheville near Black Mountain. Time outdoors, physical movement, and the rhythms of this landscape are a significant part of how I stay rooted and resourced for this work.

A key to my approach: I believe the deepest support available to any of us lives within us. My role is simply to help you find your way there.
