ABOUT RACHEL

R-55_edited.png

I came to this work by, what some may call, the long way — through decades of my own healing, doubt, and finding my way back.

Some people are natural explorers. For me, I've always been a curious explorer of inner realities and spiritual principals. I was the girl playing in the woods until dusk, or reading books voraciously. My own healing journey of the soul began at 19 years old when I reunited with my father, and read the book When the Past is Present by David Ricco. It's never easy navigating our own path beyond the noise. The pull between what you sense is true for you and what feels safe enough to stand behind. I do this work in part because I know what it costs to ignore that pull, and what becomes possible when you finally stop.

These days I run both my successful bookkeeping practice and my beloved hypnosis sessions out of Asheville, NC as of 2024. I work with clients all over the United States now. My husband and I live in Swannanoa, NC with our two cattle dogs and plenty of garden space. I strength and cardio train for longevity health, and take walks regularly in the woods with my pups. The Blue Ridge mountains are a very special and very ancient place to be held. Every day I am grateful for all that has manifested from faith and hard work, and a strong partnership.

I've had a very colorful professional career mostly in business management for community and local economies. For over 5 years I was immersed in learning from Elders within the Kogui, Wiwa, Arhuaco, and Kankuamo tribes in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Colombia. Fate had me working under a medicine woman since 2010, when I graduated university and had trouble finding a 'real' job. Apprenticing with her landed in my lap (it's own story) and led to profound adventures while maintaining a standard life paying the bills in my 20's. Through connections that unfolded unplanned, we moved out west to Durango, CO in 2012 and helped develop an international nonprofit assisting Elders in continuity within their communities at this critical time of wisdom loss. This too is its own story of growth.. That nonprofit has since evolved to mostly be operating in Colombia. I walk with the wisdom and practices I was given literally every day, applying what resonates here in the Blue Ridge.

My professional life has been rooted in community economies — food systems, farming, and small businesses. Its current form is bookkeeping and these healing practices, which took shape beginning around 2020. I say this not to impress but to give you a sense of who I am in full. I am someone who has always moved between the practical and the profound, finding them less separate than they are encouraged to be. I see it all as divine.

Indeed, the name of my practice is drawn from the writings of Sri Aurobindo and his concepts broadly related to finding the divine in our daily life, living from our authentic nature however it is intended in the life we are living now. My practice is homage to those teachings.

My path to this work was also shaped by nearly two decades of mentorships with healers and indigenous elders — including years of learning through presence with the Kogui, Wiwa, Arhuaco and Kankuamo peoples of Colombia. Those teachings are woven into how I hold space, though their depth deserves more than a paragraph.

(A longer reflection on that chapter lives in the blog.)

I grew up in North Carolina, moving to Durango, Colorado on my own in late 2012. That’s where my spiritual and professional work deepened. After eleven years, it was time to move back closer to family and the Appalachian mountains. My home with my husband and two dogs is in Swannanoa, just east of Asheville near Black Mountain. Time outdoors, physical movement, and the rhythms of this landscape are a significant part of how I stay rooted and resourced for this work.

A key to my approach: I believe the deepest support available to any of us lives within us. My role is simply to help you find your way there.
